The Manager (m/f/d) Export Control will play a vital role in maintaining the smooth and compliant operations of our fleet supply chain. Based in our Hamburg head office, you will be responsible for overseeing export control processes, staying updated on legal changes, and acting as the main point of contact for internal departments. Your expertise will ensure that our global container ships receive the necessary supplies and spare parts, adhering to all relevant regulations.Hapag-Lloyd is one of the world's leading liner shipping companies, connecting businesses and people across more than 600 ports worldwide. - Degree in a relevant field or comparable qualification, with several years of experience in customs, import/export, or export control.
- In-depth knowledge of national and international regulations (e.g. EU Dual-Use, US EAR, Foreign Trade and Payments Ordinance).
- Experience with customs tariff/commodity classification, goods lists, and authorization procedures.
- Familiarity with export control software such as AEB Export Control or SAP GTS is an advantage.
- Structured, diligent working style with strong problem-solving skills and sense of responsibility.
- Excellent communication skills in German and English; business-fluent German required.
- Strong teamwork skills and willingness to collaborate in cross-functional projects.
- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a strong focus on compliance, ethics, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with customs and export control regulations and monitor legal changes.
- Review and classify products in line with export control requirements (e.g. Export Control List, EU Dual-Use)
- Monitor, document, and audit export-related processes and service providers.
- Apply for export licenses and liaise with relevant authorities.
- Act as the main point of contact for internal departments on export control matters.
- Optimize processes in close cooperation with the Export Control Officer.
- Design and deliver training sessions on export control regulations and best practices.
- Use customs tariff and commodity classification for foreign trade statistics, goods lists, and authorization procedures.
