Job Description:
Telespazio Germany is looking to complement their current Astronomical Missions Operations team with additional engineering support, delivering services to ESA/ESOC for the XMM & INTEGRAL missions.
Key Responsibilities
To take over existing operations instrument activities, currently provided by ESAC and integrate them into the FCT at ESOC.
• maintain the instrument procedures (develop, change & test)
• maintain the instrument database (develop, change & test)
• perform instrument anomaly recoveries
• perform special operations support for instruments (eclipse operations, and development of automation activities to streamline the work of the Real-Time-Operations team
• support the calibration and mission planning teams at ESAC for operations
• provision of On-call support
• Execute real-time payload operations
• Perform maintenance of instruments and observing modes
• Perform maintenance of the instrument onboard software
• support the instrument health and performance monitoring
• execute offline instrument monitoring/trend analysis
• interfacing with instrument Principal Investigators for operational issues
To be a proactive key-team member to modernise existing operational activities while transferring them and introduce modern tools, to optimise the processes and operational efficiencies.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
• University degree or equivalent education in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering
• Spacecraft Payload and Platform subsystem knowledge
• Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations.
• Fluency in English, both spoken and writing.
• Coordination with other service providers in operations (team player)
• Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS-2000
• Experience in the generation of Flight Procedures and validation

- Familiarity with Satellite Instrument Operations
- Some experience dealing with external interfaces, e.g. Project, Industry, PDGS, etc.
- Familiarity with MOIS
- Programming knowledge (Python, Bash)
