Internship: Aerospace engineer
GMV is looking for an intern or master's thesis studentto contribute to the definition and early prototyping of a future digitalintegration, verification, and validation environment for Earth Observationspacecraft elements, communication chains, and flatsat-like configurations.
The activity will focus on mission analysis andprototyping for federated EO constellation scenarios, where spacecraft data maybe delivered either through a mission's own ground segment or through afederated relay-path surrogate. The objective is to assess representative datadelivery concepts, interoperability needs, and end-to-end V&V scenarios.
The work will be carried out within GMV's SatcomOperations and Testbeds group, part of the Engineering and Operation ServicesBusiness Unit, supporting activities related to satcom/optical developmentplatforms, end-to-end testbeds, channel emulation, automation, interoperability, and compliance.
We'll get to the point; we'll tell you what's not on the web. If you want to know more about us go to GMV website.
WHAT CHALLENGE WILL YOU BE TAKING ON?
As an intern, your main activities will include:
WHAT DO WE NEED IN OUR TEAM?

WHAT CHALLENGE WILL YOU BE TAKING ON?
As an intern, your main activities will include:
- Analysis of representative EO mission and constellation communication scenarios.
- Definition of use cases for direct and federated data delivery.
- Identification of relevant mission, ground segment, relay-path, and V&V requirements.
- Modelling of communication chains, data flows, and operational assumptions.
- Development of early prototypes, scripts, simulation components, or proof-of-concept tools.
- Support to the definition of a digital V&V framework for EO spacecraft and flatsat-like configurations.
- Assessment of interoperability aspects between spacecraft, ground segment elements, relay nodes, and testbed components.
- Preparation of technical documentation, diagrams, analysis results, and presentation material.
- Participation in technical discussions with the engineering team.
WHAT DO WE NEED IN OUR TEAM?
We're looking for students pursuing bachelor's or master'sdegrees in aerospace engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, ComputerScience, or a related technical degree.
We're looking for someone who can bring the followingstrengths to the team:
- Basic understanding of satellite missions, Earth Observation systems, or space communication architectures.
- Knowledge of Satcom communication concepts and general communication chain principles.
- Programming or scripting experience, preferably in Python.
- Ability to analyze technical problems and document engineering assumptions and results clearly.
- Good level of written and spoken English.
- Interest in space systems, mission analysis, testbeds, verification and validation activities.
The following skills will help you stand out andaccelerate your impact:
- Knowledge of optical communications, hybrid RF/optical architectures, or inter-satellite relay concepts.
- Familiarity with EO mission operations, ground segment architectures, or constellation-level data delivery.
- Experience with simulation, modelling, or mission analysis tools such as MATLAB, STK, GMAT, Orekit, or similar.
- Knowledge of DTN protocols, CCSDS standards, space communication protocols, or interoperability testing.
- Experience with Linux, Git, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, or automation frameworks.
- Familiarity with flatsat environments, hardware-in-the-loop testing, digital twins, or end-to-end testbeds.
- Basic understanding of verification and validation processes for space systems.
- Previous academic or project experience involving satellite communications, network emulation, or system prototyping.
