Business Applications & Automation Specialist (all genders) - Aerospace

Blackwave GmbH
Taufkirchen, Bayern 82024, Germany Vollzeit
Reference: 1098106113

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

The What: As Business Applications & Automation Specialist, you sit at the intersection of manufacturing, engineering, quality and IT, and drive the digitalization of our production environment. Your goal is to design and implement systems that enable relentless execution and precision at speed.

The Why:

To end COPV failure in spaceflight.

At Blackwave, we build advanced pressure vessel technology that sets new benchmarks in performance, reliability and cost efficiency for spaceflight. Achieving this mission requires more than great engineering - it requires manufacturing systems that move fast, scale reliably and provide clear operational visibility.

Our culture is our operating system. Joining Blackwave means committing to a clear mission that demands excellence, precision and focus. In this role, you will help build the digital backbone of our manufacturing operations - enabling teams to move faster, make better decisions and continuously improve the systems that power our production.

We live by the Blackwave Code - our core values of High Performance, Togetherness, Candor, Playfulness, and Accountability - and we're looking for someone who embodies these traits.

HIGH PERFORMANCE - Relentless execution. Precision at speed.
  • Build and implement the digital process landscape for manufacturing operations
  • Translate operational challenges into scalable digital systems and workflows
  • Develop business applications and automation solutions that reduce manual work
  • Create production dashboards and data visibility tools for shop-floor teams and leadership
  • Ensure that each production station has the information it needs to perform, while data is aggregated centrally
  • Continuously improve systems so manufacturing can scale without losing speed or reliability

TOGETHERNESS - One team. Fierce trust. Disagree - then commit.
  • Act as the interface between Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality and IT
  • Work closely with production teams to understand operational challenges first-hand
  • Align stakeholders around clear processes and digital solutions
  • Support transparent decision-making by providing clear and reliable operational data

CANDOR - We say the hard thing because we care. Truth drives growth.
  • Identify inefficiencies or bottlenecks in operational workflows
  • Challenge existing processes where necessary and propose better, more scalable solutions
  • Build systems that make operational performance visible and measurable

PLAYFULNESS - Play with purpose. Break things. Learn fast.
  • Experiment with new tools and approaches to improve digital workflows
  • Test and iterate solutions quickly in collaboration with operational teams
  • Explore creative ways to automate processes and simplify complex workflows

ACCOUNTABILITY - Own your impact. Lead yourself. Hold the bar.
  • Take ownership of the digital systems supporting manufacturing operations
  • Ensure solutions are reliable, scalable and actually used by the teams
  • Work closely with the Head of Manufacturing to ensure systems support operational priorities

Note: We are looking for a coordinator with a basic technical background - not a Software Engineer.

YOUR PROFILE

You enjoy solving real operational problems and turning them into clear systems and processes that work in practice. You take ownership of your work and operate with a strong sense of responsibility for the impact your systems have on the teams using them.

Must-Have Requirements
  • Experience with business applications, workflow automation, or operational systems
  • Experience working in manufacturing, operations, logistics, engineering, or similar operational environments
  • Experience with manufacturing digitalization or Industry 4.0 environments
  • Experience with workflow automation platforms, reporting tools, or operational dashboards
  • Experience with operational data analysis, KPI tracking, or production reporting
  • Familiarity with Power BI or similar dashboard/reporting platforms
  • Understanding of operational data flows, system integrations, and digital manufacturing processes
  • Basic understanding of databases, APIs, and how systems communicate and exchange information
  • Experience with ERP or manufacturing-related software systems
  • Strong process thinking and systems mindset
  • Ability to translate operational challenges into structured digital solutions
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Hands-on, pragmatic, and solution-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-moving and evolving environments
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability

Nice to Have
  • Background in aerospace, robotics, automotive, or high-tech manufacturing
  • Experience with logistics or supply chain operations
  • Experience working in scaling startup environments
  • Familiarity with low-code/no-code automation tools (e.g. Power Automate)
  • Experience supporting operational change management or user adoption
  • Understanding of manufacturing traceability or quality-related reporting

WHAT WE OFFER

  • High level of autonomy & real impact: Be part of shaping our high-tech production landscape
  • Flexible working hours & remote work options based on mutual agreement
  • Startup mindset meets aerospace innovation: Flat hierarchies, fast decisions, and space for your ideas
  • Choose your own benefit: Germany ticket, Egym Wellpass, or a tax-free Give Card
  • Healthy & social lunch culture: Enjoy fresh meals during shared lunch breaks
  • Stunning views: Wind down on our rooftop terrace with breathtaking views of the Alps
  • Growth opportunities: Work on exciting projects and learn from inspiring people
  • We live our team culture: From tech talks to team events and after-work gatherings - we celebrate success together
