Professur (W3) for Physiological Chemistry (f/m/d) management responsibilities

Universitätsklinikum Ulm
Ulm, Baden-Württemberg 89081, Germany Vollzeit
Reference: 993481734

We are seeking a candidate with an internationally recognized track record in research and teaching in the field of physiological chemistry, biochemistry or molecular biology. The professorship includes the directorship of the Institute of Physiological Chemistry (successor to Prof. Dr. T. Wirth). Candidates are expected to have an outstanding record of international publications and a proven ability to secure external funding. Furthermore, experience in establishing or participating in research networks, as well as leadership experience, is desirable.

The Institute's research activities currently focus on the role of cellular signaling pathways in development and differentiation, as well as the disruption of these pathways in the onset and progression of diseases. Future research priorities should actively support and further develop the existing research priorities of the Faculty of Medicine - aging, neuroscience, oncology, and trauma. Integration into faculty and supraregional research structures such as NCT-SüdWest, the Collaborative Research Center "Aging at Interfaces" (SFB 1506), and Multidimensional Trauma Sciences (MTW) is explicitly desired.

In addition to the standard application documents, a teaching concept in German is also requested.

Employment requirements are completed university studies in life sciences as well as teaching aptitude, a doctoral degree and further pertinent scientific achievements (§ 47 LHG).

The professorship entails taking over the predominantly German-language instruction in biochemistry and molecular biology in the degree programs in Human Medicine, Dentistry, Molecular Medicine, and Molecular and Translational Neuroscience.

The future holder of this position is expected to actively contribute to the further development of innovative teaching and examination concepts, including in the area of digital teaching, e.g., within the framework of the training hospital ToTrainU (TTU).

The University is seeking to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching and particularly encourage qualified female scientists to apply for this position. Severely disabled applicants with equal aptitude will be given preferential consideration.
