Mechanical Engineer (f/m/x)

Your responsibilities

• Design, test and commission mechanical and mechatronics systems for our experimental campaigns
• Support our experiments on spot at national and international high power laser facilities
• Work on projects both independently and in teams, using professional engineering concepts to develop practical and creative solutions to complex engineering problems
• Create and maintain engineering documentation
• Contribute with your experience to the overall experimental campaigns
• Interact with external partners and team members
• Interact and collaborate with our scientists to design experimental equipment and setups
• 3D-design for manufacturing of custom radiation diagnostics instruments, optical setups, vacuum equipment
• Assemble, test, install and commission electro-mechanical components for the experiments
• Maintain a digital twin of the experimental setups
• Create and maintain the relevant engineering documentation
• Support the science team in the preparation phase and during experimental campaigns

What you bring

• A degree in engineering, e.g., mechanical, aerospace, optical, nuclear, or related
• Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical design, manufacturing, commissioning in scientific facilities or in the aerospace, nuclear, laser, optics industry or similar
• Experience in applying EN 1090 or similar codes and standards
• Experience with INVENTOR / VAULT or similar CAD / PDM system
• Fluent in English
• Excellent communication skills and a structured working style
• A healthy amount of flexibility, adaptability and can-do attitude
• Willingness to travel and spend time at international laser laboratories
