Your Tasks

  • Installation and commissioning of proven TDL, FTIR, and light scattering measurement systems at the new AIDAc2 atmospheric simulation chamber
  • Development of new or enhanced TDL, FTIR and light scattering measurement systems for the AIDAc2, taking into account the operational requirements at the new simulation chamber and utilizing state-of-the-art technology in spectroscopy and opto-mechanics
  • Contributing to the software development for controlling the new measurement systems and integrating them into the central facility control and data acquisition systems
  • Conducting test measurements and contributing to first scientific experiments with AIDAc2
  • Technical documentation, functional specifications, and operating instructions for the new measurement systems


Your Profile

  • A completed graduate degree (Master's or university diploma) with a Ph.D. in physics, chemistry or in atmospheric and environmental sciences, specializing in optical spectroscopy (FTIR, TDL)
  • Professional experience in the development and application of TDL and/or FTIR spectroscopy (preferably in atmospheric sciences)
  • Extensive knowledge of TDL, FTIR, and scattered light spectroscopy
  • Practical experience in the setup and use of TDL, FTIR, and scattered light measurement systems
  • Experience in the design of optomechanical systems
  • Programming skills in LabView and Python
  • Strong communication skills in German and English
  • Ability to work in a team and to work in a structured and goal-oriented manner
