Student Assistant (m/f/d) - Communications & CRM

10-20 hours per week, optionally more during semester breaks.

17 euros per hour. On-site in our Berlin office with occasional remote days.

Start: immediately (preferably starting between July and August 2026).

Power for Democracies is a newly founded young initiative, active since 2024, identifying, analyzing, and publishing the most impactful pro-democracy interventions by civil society actors. Drawing on scientific evidence and practical results, we develop recommendations for private and institutional funders and civil society organizations on which measures most effectively strengthen and defend democracies worldwide. We are looking for an engaged and organized student assistant to join our growing international team.

Your tasks:

Communications Support - 60%
  • Assist with the preparation of communications materials and presentations for internal and external audiences.
  • Draft, edit, and proofread content including newsletters, social media posts, and external communications. Help manage and update Power for Democracies website [CMS Wagtail], slack channels and LinkedIn page.
  • Help prepare presentations, briefings, and summaries for an international audience.
  • Assist with the coordination of external communications partners and service providers.


CRM Data Maintenance (CiviCRM) - 30%
  • Help maintain and quality-check contact data and distribution lists in our CRM system (CiviCRM).
  • Run standard reports and assist with basic data exports and evaluations.
  • Support colleagues with day-to-day CRM questions and flag technical issues to the relevant contact.


General Operations - 10%
  • Support the team in day-to-day operations.
  • Contribute to organizational, administrative, and project management tasks.
  • Prepare and participate in meetings and workshops.
  • Help with desk research as needed.


What you bring:
  • You are enrolled in a degree program (on a long-term basis) and have a genuine passion for democracy, human rights, and global affairs.
  • You have excellent English writing skills at a near-native level, with a strong sense of tone, clarity, and audience. You are comfortable producing high-quality external communications, including newsletters, social media content, and briefings.
  • Preferably, you are able to follow conversations in German and engage in a professional setting;
  • You have experience or a strong interest in communications work: writing, editing, managing digital channels.
  • You are comfortable working with digital tools (e.g., CMS, CRM systems) and have a basic understanding of design or content tools. You use AI tools thoughtfully to support your work.
  • Experience with CRM systems (ideally CiviCRM) is a plus; a willingness to learn is what counts.
  • You are highly organized, proactive, and reliable. You take initiative, communicate clearly, and follow through on tasks.You are curious, enjoy learning new tools and workflows, and thrive in an international team environment.
