- Application of novel machine learning methods to problems in atmospheric dynamics and predictability
- Research contributions to the Helmholtz program "Changing Earth" ( Earth and Environment - Helmholtz - Association of German Research Centres ) of the IMKTRO
- Technical and scientific support for other members of the research group
- Development of research proposals for external funding
- Publication of results in the form of articles in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at workshops and conferences
- Support for the research group leadership in organizational matters
- Networking with colleagues in mathematics and computer science
- (Optional) Contributions to the BSc/MSc degree programs in "Meteorology and Climate Physics"
Your Profile
- Completed doctorate in Meteorology, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field
- Research experience at the interface of Meteorology, Mathematics, and Computer Science
- Strong programming skills
- Experience with high-performance computing
- Excellent command of English
- Ability to collaborate constructively within a team; creativity, independence, and strong communication skills
- Experience with numerical modeling is desirable
- Knowledge of German-or the willingness to learn the German language-is desirable
