Air and Missile Defense Specialist

About the Position:

The Air and Missile Defense Specialist, GS-0301-12, serves as an action officer within the Headquarters US European Command (HQ EUCOM) Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Division and the Joint Operations Center (JOC) with duties assigned to the Plans and Operations Center. The primary duties of this position are to assist with operations, crisis planning, and execution of IAMD operations within the command area of responsibility (AOR).Qualifications:Who May Apply: Only applicants who meet one of the employment authority categories below are eligible to apply for this job. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. You will be evaluated on your competency in the following areas, based on one year of specialized experience that includes:

• Technical Competence:

Developing air and missile defense concepts and capability documentation while integrating military doctrine into operational planning processes, AND;

• Strategic Thinking:

Analyzing Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) plans and operations to advise on plan status and implementation, AND;

• Communication:

Providing recommendations to resolve substantive problems of effectiveness and efficiency of missile defense work operations.


Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).Education:Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
