Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and driven Development Engineer to design, analyze, and further develop our patented Multiwavelength Interferometers to stay on the forefront in surface and form metrology and realize the next generation Interferometer systems that underpin Taylor Hobsons surface and form measurement program.
In this role, you will be responsible for turning advanced opto-mechanical designs into robust, manufacturable, and operable surface metrology systems like the LuphoScan.

We are seeking a skilled and driven Development Engineer to design, analyze, and further develop our patented Multiwavelength Interferometers to stay on the forefront in surface and form metrology and realize the next generation Interferometer systems that underpin Taylor Hobsons surface and form measurement program.
In this role, you will be responsible for turning advanced opto-mechanical designs into robust, manufacturable, and operable surface metrology systems like the LuphoScan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing novel optomechanical systems for the surface and form metrology
- Assembly, align and calibrate the Interferometer and surface metrology systems
- Optimize the current probe and interferometer technology
- Develop new methods/ideas to improve the accuracy of the systems, simplify manufacturing processes and reduce costs.
- International support of the application/service team
Experience/Qualifications:
- A master's degree in Physics, Optical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Excellent understanding of interferometers, classical optics, laser- and fibre-physics and wave optics.
- Bring basic knowledge in mechanics and electronics.
- Solid expertise with Optical Simulation Software preferably Zemax/OpticStudio, including optimization and tolerancing.
- Solid expertise with CAD and PDM software, preferably Solid Works/Solid Works Manage, and proficiency in tolerance analysis.
- Expertise in the field of Electronics (Analog, Digital, programmable logic) is a plus
- Expertise in the field of Programming (C/C++, Python, Matlab, or similar) is a plus
- Fluency in German language is desirable
Additional Experience required:
- Experience with lab work and R&D projects
- Experience with data analysis
- Experience with customer visits / field service
