Data Scientist / Statistical Programmer (m/f/d)
The Computational Medicine Group (Emmy Noether Group Leader: PD Dr. Pascal Schlosser) at the Institute of Epidemiology and Prevention generates new insights into the (patho-)physiology of complex human traits and diseases, which arise from the combination of genetic predisposition and environmental influences. The position is posted as part of the Cluster of Excellence CIBSS (EXC-2189 Centre for Integrative Biological Signalling Studies). We conduct epidemiologic studies and develop integrative methods to analyze the collected molecular information, including in collaborative work within large international research consortia. We are looking to expand our multidisciplinary team (medicine, statistics, bioinformatics, biology). You will support the team by generating and analyzing molecular and clinical data for third-party funded projects.

Your mission:
- plan and conduct statistical analyses in cooperation with our experienced team
- publish research findings in scientific manuscripts and as open-source software
- support joint research projects
Your qualifications:
- a strong interest in translational research at the intersection of methods development and biomedical application
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in mathematics / statistics / epidemiology / bioinformatics / data science or a comparable subject
- experience in programming and knowledge of at least one established statistical programming language
- proficiency in written and spoken English
- independent, target-oriented working manner and willingness to learn additional statistical methods
- strong commitment to research ethics and teamwork
- good communication skills
