Finance Analyst - Berlin

We are looking for an outstanding Finance Analyst to play a pivotal part in the financial and operational management of our venture capital funds. An important responsibility in this role will be to redesign processes and systems with AI tools to drive the speed and impact of our work. You will lead financial analysis projects, assist with investor reporting, coordinate with external fund administrators, support fund accounting and treasury processes, and track fund reporting and compliance requirements. You will work closely with our Chief Financial Officer, VP Finance & Investor Relations and Senior Finance Manager as we further develop the scope and influence of our finance function.

The ideal candidate would have relevant experience working in a finance role in venture capital or private equity, should possess an understanding of venture capital fund finance and operations, and have an enthusiasm to work with AI tools, coupled with exceptional attention to detail and communication skills.

Key responsibilities include

Financial analysis:

  • Support the team on financial analysis of portfolio companies and funds, including for example working with cap tables, building waterfall models, driving strategic insights from portfolio benchmarking
  • Utilise AI tools to accelerate and support data analysis

Investor relations:

  • Serve as one of the primary points of contact for fund investors, addressing enquiries and providing regular updates
  • Support the preparation and distribution of capital call notices, distribution notices and quarterly reportings to investors
  • Coordinate the maintenance of investor records and ensure compliance with investor agreements

Fund administration:

  • Work closely with our team of external fund administration service providers to ensure smooth running of fund operations
  • Assist in fund operations, including fund formation, onboarding new investments and managing fund-related documents
  • Manage fund management software providers to provide high-quality investor experience
  • Leverage AI-assisted tools to streamline document processing, data extraction and fund administration workflows

Fund accounting and treasury management:

  • Support in ensuring accurate records of fund transactions provided by fund administrators, including investments, capital calls, distributions and fees
  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial reports for fund investors
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals for fund audits and tax filings
  • Assist with fund payments and cash management

Fund reporting and compliance:

  • Contribute to the preparation and filing of required regulatory reports and disclosures
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure fund documents are up-to-date and in compliance with relevant regulations

The requirements for this role

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or a relevant field, with excellent grades. A relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) is a plus
  • 1-2 years of relevant finance experience (including internships) in a start-up, venture capital or private equity fund, financial services company or fund administrator
  • Basic understanding of fund accounting principles, financial reporting and compliance, with a willingness to learn and grow in these areas
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Google suite; familiarity with AI productivity tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot, or similar) is a strong plus
  • A proactive attitude toward identifying where AI can reduce manual work and improve output quality
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with external partners, investors and colleagues
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
