At the University of Greifswald's Institute of Biochemistry that belongs to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, there is a job vacancy in the Biotechnology & Enzyme Catalysis research group that is available for next possible appointment, subject to the allocation of funds, for a full-time

research assistant.

The position is to be filled for a limited period until 31 December 2028. Payment will be made according to pay group 13 TV-L Wissenschaft . The position is suitable for part-time employment.

Job Description:

As part of the DFG-funded NFDI4Cat research project, the successful candidate will participate in the following research activities within the University of Greifswald's sub-project:
  • Co-development of semantic data exchange standards for complex machine learning/AI-controlled biocatalytic processes in accordance with the FAIR data principles
  • Co-development of semantic representations (taxonomies and ontologies) of biochemical / biocatalytic data
  • Laboratory automation and robot-assisted generation of research data
  • Co-development of closed-loop experimentation

Job Requirements:
  • By the time employment starts, an above-average university degree (master's or equivalent) in computer science, computational chemistry or bioinformatics
  • Advanced knowledge of Python / JavaScript, OWL / RDF
  • Advanced knowledge of container technologies (such as Docker), databases and developer tools such as git and agentic programming
  • Advanced English language skills
  • Knowledge of semantic data representation and ontologies

Desirable:
  • Knowledge of logic reasoning
  • Knowledge of AI and machine learning
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes
