Senior Customer Development Manager - Rewe / Penny (m/f/d)

Are you ready to join the Rewe grocery Team as a key Associate to elevate our partnership with Penny and Rewe to the next level? We are looking for a leader who combines strategic thinking, driving business results, guiding the team and developing talents.

The Senior Customer Development Leader is a role with significant responsibility and a high degree of autonomy. You are responsible for profitable growth for Penny and Rewe. You will develop and execute sustainable business plans, maximize category and team performance, and play a crucial role for the success of the whole Team. In close partnership with the Head of Rewe grocery, you will act as a co-pilot, lead strategic negotiations, and build strong, influential relationships internally and externally guided by our 5 principles.

What would be your key responsibilities?
  • Take full P&L and planning responsibility for Penny and Rewe, aligned with targets and category plans.
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term sales strategies, including Joint Business Plans to grow and diversify strategic customer relationships.
  • Sell and negotiate sales, marketing, and activation plans, while identifying and capturing cross-sell and up-sell opportunities.
  • Lead strategic projects for Penny and beyond and provide cross-functional leadership within the One Demand community.
  • Create and implement retention and growth plans to drive profitable business.
  • Continuously analyse business performance, financial KPIs, identify trends, and manage overall performance based on internal and external data.
  • Ensure strong, high-quality customer service and resolve issues effectively.


What can you expect from Mars?
  • Proven functional knowledge of the German sales and retail landscape with multiple years of experience in customer business development or related sales functions.
  • Ability to manage complex customer relationships and develop and execute strategic account plans.
  • Strong skills and passion in negotiation, solving complex challenges, stakeholder management, and customer engagement.
  • Ability to lead projects, influence cross-functional teams, and lead without direct authority.
  • A high degree of independence and readiness to take on broader business responsibility.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving sales targets and acting as a unifying force within the Rewe team and beyond.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with a strong drive for data-driven decision-making.
  • Fluent in German and English.
  • Willingness to travel (~15% of working time) and possession of a valid driver's license.
