The position is part of the BLE-funded project EMMA2: Effizienzanalyse an Hand von Mikrobiom- und Metabolomdaten und Modellierung von Akquisition und Allokation bei Milchkühen (Analysing dairy cow efficiency by modelling acquisition and allocation based on metabolome and microbiome data). The ultimate project goal is to model the efficiency of dairy cows based on acquisition and allocation with the aim to improve dairy cattle breeding for health and efficiency. In Functional Breeding group, we are focussing on health and efficiency traits and their relationship with performance. We are applying a broad spectrum of methods including various omics-based approaches, molecular and cell biology as well as statistical genetics methods. We are offering the possibility for a doctorate in the context of an innovative project. The successful candidate will further benefit from a friendly and international atmosphere and a tailored education program and collaboration with the partner Universities in Kiel and Hohenheim. We are seeking for a highly motivated PostDoc, who will conduct innovative breeding research in dairy cows using cutting edge techniques involving large omics-datasets including genomic, transcriptomic and metabolomic data. Beyond data analysis and the publication of results, the successful candidate will be involved in the animal trial and the coordination of the project consortium.
Your profile:
- M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in Animal Sciences, Veterinary Medicine or related fields including Biology
and Bioinformatics and ideally a suitable PhD degree
- Experience with omis-data
- Strong interest dairy cattle breeding
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency in English
