Smartphones, computers, and cars function with the help of tiny microchips. As a microtechnologist, you manufacture exactly these microchips and microsystems for electronic components. Microtechnologists operate, maintain, and service chemical processing and disposal systems. You are involved in the production of microchips in the area of supply engineering and take part in process engineering procedures. The work environment is therefore very diverse and includes fields such as electronics, chemistry, and process technology.
Explore your tasks and responsibilities
- Read, apply, and draft technical documentation
- Operate, maintain, and repair chemical processing and wastemanagement systems
- Perform chemical analyses to support quality assurance and production processes
- Ensure compliance with environmental protection, data protection, and occupational health and safety regulations
- Structure, etch, dope, assemble, and manufacture semiconductor components
- Apply fundamental knowledge of electrical engineering, pneumatics, electropneumatics, sensor technology, and control engineering
- Operate system controls and process control technology safely and accurately
Show your expertise
- You have completed intermediate secondary education (equivalent to Mittlere Reife or a qualifying secondary school certificate)
- You have an interest in chemistry, physics, mathematics, and technology
- You are careful, skilled, and reliable
- You have strong concentration skills and a high level of motivation
