Engineer Factory Innovation
The Engineer Factory Innovation implements complex change projects in Mars Snacking factories that may impact any of: product recipes, process/packaging technologies, raw materials and pack materials for NPD, and changes to the existing portfolio. It is their responsibility to specify the right process technologies necessary to support the changes at hand, and to then validate the production settings on start-up to ensure efficient and sustainable scale production that meets all product and packaging quality requirements.
The role requires close collaboration and stakeholder management with key partners within R&D, Supply and Commercial, to ensure optimal project execution, risk management and timely delivery. As a member of the regional Factory Innovation team, the job holder is expected to be able to
coordinate the necessary support from other functions in support of their projects and deliver activities to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of FI function. The job holder is also expected to support the functional and technical upskilling of other associates in the team, where required

What will be your key responsibilities?
- Implement change projects in Mars Wrigley factories by delivering the Factory Innovation remit as laid out in DFVS RACI. These changes could be in service of NPD, Value Leadership, Supply Security, Freedom to Operate, Simplification programs, Asset Health or Supply Chain optimization
- Be the key R&D factory interface for Packaging and Product Developers during the design, development and implementation of new packs, products, recipe and changes in process / pack technologies in Mars Wrigley factories & R&D site lead for Handover 0, 1 and 2 for new products, packs, and raw materials, with overall responsibility for validation step between Handover 0 and Handover 1.
- Coordinate and execute line trials, commissioning, validation and start-up plans for any change being implemented and ensure optimal and sustainable delivery of product KQAs and PQAs, through development of SRCs and Centerlines, making sure all results are communicated and knowledge captured before final handover to operations.
- Process Specification Development for any planned change, including documentation of critical process parameters necessary to deliver product KQAs and PQAs. Work with engineering teams to ensure process specifications are sufficient and updated at the completion of projects.
- To apply Six Sigma tools and problem-solving methodologies (eg FMEA, SIPOC) to evaluate, risk assess, and translate to full scale factory production recipe, pack and process technology changes.
- Work cross-functionally with key partners in R&D, Supply Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering and Commercial to ensure effective project execution and ensure timelines are met, and support as required other key business processes such as QuEST, QES, EWP, etc. for all allocated change projects
- Recipe management at site level of approved product recipes for new products and raw materials, including review of material workflows to verify specifications and BOM accuracy.
- Technical expert in the operation of process and packaging areas in the plant, providing troubleshooting expertise and support to Technical Services for level 4 problem solving escalations. Apply functional expertise to assist the regional FI team in optimization of the work across sites as well as supporting the development of improved processes and systems for the entire team
- Partner with team members at other sites to share expertise, improve and harmonise ways of working, optimize project resourcing, and drive the development of new, more efficient systems and processes for the team
What are we looking for?
- A college or university degree on food technology/engineering and extensive working experience in production environment
- Problem solving attitude (Green belt certification is a plus)
- Good communication skills & ability to collaborate effectively across different functions
- Works independently and receives instruction, guidance and direction with general supervision
- May influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies and practices
- Professional fluent in English and German, Dutch is a plus
