Drive the future of commercial mobility with MATLAB® and Simulink®

MathWorks is seeking a customer-facing Model Based Systems Engineer to partner with Europe's leading commercial vehicle manufacturers. As a Technical Account Manager, you will closely collaborate with the Sales Account Manager on developing and executing the account strategy to drive successful adoption of MATLAB® and Simulink® products and services. In this role, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor, helping engineering teams adopt and scale Model-Based Design, simulation-driven development, and advanced analytics to build safer, smarter, and more efficient trucks and commercial vehicles. You will work directly with world-class engineering organizations shaping next-generation electric and hydrogen powertrains, ADAS/AD systems, and connected vehicle platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead implementation of best practices in Model-Based Design, system simulation, embedded controls, and V&V workflows.
  • Help customers modernize and scale development processes, including model architectures, large-scale simulation, and enterprise toolchain integration.
  • Drive successful, organization-wide deployment of MathWorks technologies across programs and departments.

Build High-Impact Technical Partnerships
  • Develop trusted, long-term relationships across engineering, R&D, simulation, validation, and software teams.
  • Align MathWorks solutions with customer strategies in electrification, autonomy, safety, and connectivity.
  • Drive MathWorks technology within existing projects and explore new application opportunities

Influence Product Direction
  • Represent commercial vehicle customer needs to MathWorks development teams.
  • Contribute to product roadmaps covering ISO 26262, AUTOSAR, MBSE, vehicle energy management, service-oriented architectures, and fleet connectivity.
  • Advocate for new capabilities that support large-scale commercial vehicle development.

Lead Cross-Functional Execution
  • Partner across Application Engineering, Consulting, Training, Sales, and Marketing to create and execute account strategies.
  • Deliver technical workshops, hands-on engagements, and executive-level technical sessions.
  • Ensure sustained support for key programs across the full product lifecycle.


Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and 10 years of professional work experience (or equivalent experience) is required.
  • Candidates for this position must be authorized to work in Germany.
  • Candidates must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Demonstrated experience in/with Automotive


Additional Qualifications

  • Expertise in automotive or commercial vehicle engineering-such as embedded controls, powertrain development, electrification, ADAS/AD, system modeling, or simulation.
  • Deep proficiency with MATLAB & Simulink, or strong background in comparable tools & model-based workflows.
  • Ability to engage with engineering leadership, understand complex technical challenges, and communicate solutions effectively.
  • Experience in customer success and long-term technical partnership building
  • Understanding of complex Model-Based Design workflows and toolchains within automotive OEMs.
  • Experience identifying new opportunities for applications and workflow efficiencies and upselling services or delivering project engagements.
