About the Role
The Senior HR Generalist - Shared Services (Germany) is a senior individual contributor within the HR Solutions organization, responsible for ensuring HR data accuracy, operational quality, and effective employee support governance for Germany with an opportunity to expand scope into other EMEA countries.
This role serves as a regional control point and escalation partner, ensuring HR transactions, employee inquiries, and employee relations matters are handled consistently, compliantly, and in alignment with global standards, local requirements, and defined service levels.
The Senior Specialist partners closely with HR Business Partners, Legal, Payroll, HR Technology, and external providers to reduce operational risk, maintain data integrity, and enable a consistent employee experience across the region.

What You'll Do
HR Shared Services & Data Governance
- Ensure accurate HR data in HRIS (e.g., Workday) for employees including hire changes, leaves, terminations, and statutory data elements.
- Oversee and validate HR transactions processed through global shared services, payroll vendors, and external partners to maintain data quality and compliance.
- Act as the local escalation point for HR operational issues or data discrepancies in Germany, interfacing with HR Technology and Payroll to correct and prevent recurrence.
- Maintain and evolve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and controls tailored for Germany's HR statutory requirements (e.g., employment filings, statutory leave, data privacy).
Employee & Manager Support
- Serve as a senior HR contact for employees and managers, addressing HR policy, process, and system inquiries with clarity and responsiveness.
- Triage HR requests and concerns to the appropriate resolution path - shared services transaction execution, HRBP, Legal - with clear communication and turnaround expectations.
- Provide guidance to leaders on routine HR processes, performance management, and statutory HR requirements while ensuring consistency with company policies and local regulations.
Employment-Related Coordination & Compliance
- Monitor employment matters and workplace concerns in Germany; partner with HR Business Partners and Legal for appropriate escalation and handling of sensitive or medium/high-risk matters.
- Independently support low-risk employee relations matters where appropriate, ensuring documentation and transparency.
- Ensure employment documentation, case tracking, and outcome records comply with local law and Internal standards.
- Surface emerging issues or risk patterns proactively to HR leadership.
Works Council & Consultation Support
- Coordinate operational HR inputs for Works Council consultations, restructurings, and statutory processes in partnership with HRBPs and Legal.
- Ensure consultation materials, data, and documentation are accurate, complete, and delivered on agreed timelines.
- Track follow-up actions and commitments to support compliance and transparency.
Reporting, Insights & Continuous Improvement
- Produce and maintain recurring HR reports such as headcount, data accuracy metrics, service delivery KPIs, and inquiries/Escalations.
- Analyze patterns to identify risks, compliance gaps, or areas for operational improvement.
- Partner with Shared Services, HRIS, and HR Business Partners to propose and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
What Makes You a Strong Fit
Experience & Domain Knowledge
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law or related field.
- Minimum 3 years experience with Works Council.
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience in HR Operations, Shared Services, or regional HR roles, preferably in German or EMEA environments.
- Strong working knowledge of German labor law, statutory leave, contracts, HR documentation, payroll interactions, and compliance standards.
- Experience in an HR Shared Services model with exposure to global HRIS, data governance, and operational controls.
Language & Communication
- Fluent German and strong English language skills (written and verbal) are required.
- Ability to communicate accurately and professionally with HR partners, managers, employees, and external stakeholders.
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Hands-on experience with HRIS systems (Workday preferred), including reporting, data validation, and audit support.
- Detail-focused with a strong analytical mindset - able to spot data inconsistencies and translate insights into action.
- Comfortable using HR operations tools, case management/ticketing systems, and shared service workflows.
How You'll Stand Out
- Deep knowledge of local statutory requirements and compliance frameworks - able to interpret and apply them to HR service delivery.
