The Department for Computer Science at the School of Computing Science, Business Administration, Economics, and Law seeks applications for a
Professorship in Machine Learning in Software Engineering
salary scale W2 (m/f/x)
as soon as possible. The professorship is financed by the federal Programme for Female Professors with the objective to appoint a woman to a permanent W2 professorship for the first time.
We are looking for a person with an international track record in Software Engineering whose research focuses on the usage of Machine Learning techniques in Software Engineering and/or the development of Software Engineering techniques for AI-enabled systems. Experience in at least one of the following areas is required:
Furthermore, research experience in the field of human-AI-interaction within software development is desirable.
Associated with the professorship is an active integration into the university's research agenda, particularly through contributions to the university's research center "Human-Cyber-Physical Systems: Safety, Acceptance, Social and Cultural Embeddedness". Excellent opportunities for networking at the University of Oldenburg for basic and applied research exist. In addition, the research institute OFFIS, the DLR institute and the DFKI at Oldenburg offer excellent opportunities in application-oriented research.
Candidates are expected to teach Bachelor and Master courses in Computer Science in German and English language. More specifically, the successful candidate is expected to cover the subject Software Engineering in our Bachelor degree course.

- High-quality publication record in software engineering
- Relevant teaching experience in a university setting
- International experience, generally attained by research stays abroad or international cooperations
- Successful acquisition of third-party funding
- Proficiency in German (at least level C2) or the willingness to achieve this within the next five years

- Willingness to participate in the cooperation between the universities of Oldenburg and Bremen
- Synergies with the DFKI or DLR institutes in Oldenburg or OFFIS
- Prior expertise in university self-administration
