This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Database Reliability Engineer based in the Germany.

This role sits at the core of a high-traffic, fast-scaling digital environment serving tens of millions of users each week. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of a modern, cloud-native database ecosystem built from the ground up using cutting-edge technologies. Working within a specialized DBRE and DevOps team, you will help design and evolve highly available data systems that support rapid international expansion. The environment is highly engineering-driven, with strong emphasis on automation, observability, and continuous improvement. You will play a key role in shaping database architecture decisions, improving system resilience, and enabling safe, fast product releases across regions. This is a hands-on, high-impact position for someone who enjoys solving complex data challenges at scale.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain highly available and scalable database architectures supporting global, multi-region platforms
  • Take ownership of production database operations including schema changes, data migrations, deployments, and incident resolution
  • Improve performance, reliability, and scalability through tuning, capacity planning, and disaster recovery optimization
  • Develop automation tools and internal platforms using Go and/or Python to reduce manual operations and improve system efficiency
  • Monitor database health and define alerting strategies based on SLI/SLO frameworks to proactively detect and prevent incidents
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to support query optimization, schema design, and troubleshooting
  • Implement and maintain robust backup, recovery, replication, and security strategies across relational and NoSQL databases
  • Conduct regular security audits and ensure compliance with database security best practices

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience working with large-scale MySQL and MongoDB production environments
  • Strong background in Database Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or similar infrastructure-focused roles
  • Deep understanding of database internals, performance tuning, high availability, and distributed systems
  • Hands-on experience with automation and scripting using Golang and/or Python
  • Familiarity with cloud database services such as AWS Aurora, DocumentDB, ElastiCache, and related tooling
  • Experience implementing SLI/SLO/SLA-based reliability practices and monitoring strategies
  • Strong knowledge of backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery methodologies
  • Proactive mindset with strong problem-solving skills and a passion for system reliability and scalability
