The International Card Services (ICS) LFO Germany team is a highly respected decision support finance team that works closely with multiple business partners to provide analytical and value-added recommendations that have tangible impact on business decisions, long range strategy and overall growth performance. With numerous stakeholders requiring consultative finance support, the level of exposure and insights to real business challenges and opportunities is high and often demanding.

The Director will lead a team of 2 Finance Managers and will be based in Frankfurt (travel to London will be required). The Team is responsible for reviewing performance of the markets, identifying trends and bringing forward the required decisions to the Germany & Austria Country Manager and acting as the Finance coordination point for all Germany market finance reviews.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities will include:
  • Providing visibility and financial insights to business partners on country performance and long term plans; ensure we are deploying all funds efficiently, focusing on sustainable growth and value creation. The LFO will coordinate and align with all Finance Business Unit groups.
  • Proactively working with the business to identify critical business questions and frame the correct analyses to make decisions.
  • Preparing financials for investment lists, optimising for strong ROI and then tracking performance across channels and products, with recommendations for efficiency gains.
  • Working with Business Unit Financial Planning & Analysis (BU FP&A) to generate month end performance analytics identifying actions needed to grow volumes & margins.
  • Working with BU FP&A to prepare medium and long-term financial outlooks and trends identifying the role that products, channels and capabilities (lending, insurance, Travel and Lifestyle Services) will play to drive growth.
  • Preparing financial insight for business changes, product refreshes and developments and commercial negotiations enabling markets to deliver on expectations
  • Developing decision science in team with use of SAS, Tableau, & Lumi to drive CM level analysis of marginal P&L, product and investment performance.
  • Managing and providing regular coaching and development to a high-performing team of 2 managers, one of them located in London.


Qualifications

  • MBA, qualified Accountant, or equivalent professional qualification, with significant tenure (min. 7 years of experience) in Finance Leadership roles.
  • Proven experience of leading teams in a complex and multi-stakeholder environment with multiple projects, delegating and developing individuals to maintain a high performing team.
  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to translate complex financial analysis into value added recommendations to influence business decision making.
  • Desire and ability to challenge the status quo, think differently and be open to learn from failure.
  • Influencing and driving action with business partners in multiple locations.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across the organisation while using data to influence thinking and working collaboratively to find solutions.
  • Proven ability to deal with ambiguity and tackle complex problems with limited direction from leader.
  • Knowledge of SQL / SAS data mining tools, strong analytical skillset and ability to use mass data and P&L insights to identify key messages.
  • Knowledge of planning, Investment Optimisation and financial modelling (including advance experience with Oracle TM1).
  • Commercial negotiation experience.
  • Knowledge of the Consumer/Commercial Card business.
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Knowledge of external competitive environment and industry trends including regulation
