Recreation Assistant (Water Swim Instructor)

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Ramstein Aquatic Center, Ramstein AB, Germany.

This position does NOT provide logistical support.

Teach group and private classes according to American Red Cross Learn to Swim program guidelines.Qualifications:Who May Apply: Open to everyone. The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is U.S. Citizens and legal U.S. residents in Germany. In accordance with the Status of Forces Agreement between Germany and the U.S., you must be a U.S. citizen or citizen of a NATO country with a U.S. permanent resident card in order to be eligible for NAF employment. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Requires knowledge of swimming strokes and learning theory to include: teaching strokes, principals of motor skills, and lesson plan development. Must have knowledge in water safety and understand proper use of teaching materials and equipment. Knowledge of and experience with lifeguarding procedures are desired. Needs ability to work all shifts during days, evenings, weekends and holidays and must be able to lift at least 25 pounds.Education:Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
