Job Summary
The Senior Game Designer is responsible for the creation and development of innovative content and mechanics across both new and existing Board Game lines. The Game Designer will combine creative vision with strong communication, mentorship, and project management skills to maintain a high standard of design through iterative development and playtesting. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure games offer a fun, balanced, accessible, and engaging experience.

What does this role Involve
- Create, design and develop product vision, systems, rules, and content for both new and existing game lines.
- Ensure final game products are fun, inclusive, in the spirit of the intellectual property involved, and within the scope of the vision and budget of the product.
- Manage the status and progress of all active assigned projects in order to meet deadlines.
- Communicate updates and project needs to multiple teams across the studio and publisher.
- Lead internal and external playtesting by providing all necessary components, answering questions, and collecting and analyzing player feedback to improve the fun, balance, and accessibility of game design, content, and rules.
- Provide documentation to other creative departments (Art, Graphic Design, Sculpting, etc.) detailing what elements are required to support game content and design.
- Collaborate with freelance contractors and ensure all deliverables meet project vision, timeline, and content quality standards.
- Maintain good working relationships with various licensors, partners, and freelancers.
- Collaborate with Marketing on promotional content for products and game lines, live events, and player community support.
- Maintain community and product life-cycle awareness for active game lines.
- Develop and maintain errata, rules updates, and FAQs for active game lines.
- Work with Production partners to ensure our products are correctly translated and that all questions and concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
- Create final, print-ready game product layouts using Adobe InDesign or other suitable software.
- Playtest and review products with staff to ensure milestones are met and quality is upheld.
- Analyze and suggest improvements to our internal studio processes.
- Mentor fellow designers.
- All other assignments as required by management.
What are we looking for
Position Skills & Qualifications
- Exceptional understanding of game design theory.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent creative skills and the ability to give and receive creative feedback.
- Ability to lead and effectively collaborate with other teams and individuals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
- Proficient ability to multitask, prioritize, and self-organize.
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently on projects.
- An expert understanding of current hobby market trends and recent innovations.
- Detail oriented and dedicated to making great games.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Minimum of five years of professional game design experience.
- Minimum of three year of experience in the hobby tabletop games industry.
