AWS has recently launched the inaugural European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), marking a significant development in utility computing (UC). To spearhead this initiative, we are actively seeking experienced Technical Program Managers with a strong background in program management and working with Software Engineers. As part of the AWS Managed Operations team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-availability AWS services, including EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock, exclusively for EU customers. European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) is a part of AWS Utility Computing (UC).

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations - from foundational services such as Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS's services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you'll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS. Within AWS UC, Managed Operations engineers engage with AWS customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Eligibility requirement

* Fluency in written and spoken English is required.

* Candidate must be a national of an EU member state and residing in the EU to operate the AWS European Sovereign Cloud.

* Amazon will provide relocation support for successful applicants relocating within the European Union.

* Employees will participate in an On-Call rota

Key job responsibilities

In this role you will work closely with the software development and product teams to deliver high quality, scalable products deployed around the world. You will collaborate with the product teams to deliver the best product with most efficient use of resources and technologies. You will work with all the stakeholders to assemble project teams, assign responsibilities, identify appropriate resources needed, and develop schedules to ensure timely completion of projects by meeting project milestones. You will also assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, make tradeoffs, balance the business needs versus technical constraints and encourage risk-taking behavior to maximize business benefit. Successful candidates will have a technical background, be detail driven and have excellent problem-solving abilities.

A day in the life

As a Senior TPM, you will own and execute programs for the European Sovereign Cloud. This will include discovering relevant areas, going deep to understand metrics and technology, and producing artifacts that will be reviewed at different leadership levels. In this role you will work closely with the software development, operations and product teams to deliver high quality, scalable products. You will collaborate with other teams to deliver the best solutions with most efficient use of resources and technologies. You will work with various stakeholders to identify and assign responsibilities, identify resources needed, and develop schedules to ensure timely completion of projects. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management

- Experience with written and verbal communication and presentation

- This role requires you to be a national of an EU member state

- Proficient leading the creation, revision, and/or improvement of standard operational procedures (SOPs) and driving operational best practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience

- Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems, or experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers

- Experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders across the organization to act without having a direct reporting relationship

- Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps

- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to scale the businesses and provide reporting to senior leadership.

- Strong sense of ownership, including an ability to promote operational excellence, with the ability to work independently having excellent problem solving skills

- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
