Business Development Representative

Smartsheet is seeking a driven Business Development Representative to generate sales pipeline and support revenue growth. This role focuses on prospecting into relevant accounts, engaging and qualifying potential customers, and setting the tone for the sales cycle. It offers an excellent opportunity to develop prospecting and discovery skills in support of our Commercial and Large Enterprise teams.

You will report to the Manager, Business Development and the role is based in Munich, Germany (Hybrid DE eligible)

You Will:

  • Generate appointments by independently identifying companies and contacts that would be a good fit for our services, making decisions to reach out via email, LinkedIn, cold calling, and other specialist software sales tools - applying sustained focus and independent judgement to prioritise the highest-value opportunities
  • Independently create and manage multiple outbound sequence campaigns in our sales engagement platform, planning and prioritising activity across concurrent workstreams to maintain consistent pipeline generation
  • Record and document all activity accurately in Salesforce.com, maintaining data integrity and supporting team-wide reporting and visibility
  • Monitor the social web for opportunities and leads, and participate in outbound social marketing initiatives, exercising judgement on relevance and timing
  • Leverage sales techniques to maximise prospect interactions, adapting communication style to engage individuals at all levels of an organisation with clarity and professionalism
  • Maintain a high level of outbound activity with the intent to qualify and grow the sales pipeline, demonstrating resilience and a positive approach when navigating rejection or ambiguity
  • Collaborate with Commercial and Large Enterprise Account Executives, contributing as a constructive and reliable team member and supporting shared pipeline goals
  • Operate standard computer and keyboard equipment in a hybrid office and remote environment as part of day-to-day responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

You Have:

  • 1+ years of SaaS or relevant sales experience, demonstrating a foundational understanding of software sales cycles and qualification methodologies
  • Experience selling into the DACH region is highly desirable, bringing relevant market knowledge and cultural awareness
  • Fluency in German and English is required, with strong written and verbal communication skills that enable clear and professional engagement across prospect and internal audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, solve problems independently, and make sound decisions without requiring close managerial oversight
  • Experience with Salesforce.com or a comparable CRM platform, and familiarity with sales engagement tools such as Outreach or Salesloft
  • Ability to create and manage outbound prospecting campaigns, with strong organisational skills to prioritise and execute across multiple simultaneous sequences
  • Proactive approach and genuine desire to learn new skills, develop a career in software sales, and take ownership of individual performance goals
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment, with the ability to adapt to new sales and qualification strategies as the business grows
  • No direct financial responsibility is required for this role; awareness of pipeline contribution as it relates to revenue targets is expected
  • Legally eligible to work in Germany on an ongoing basis

Smartsheet provides a competitive base salary range for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive incentive opportunity.
