Sembach is about 45 minutes east of Ramstein Air Base and serves a population of about 2,000. The KMC, 80 miles southwest of Frankfurt, Germany, is located in the German federal state of Rheinland-Pfalz which borders on Belgium, France, and Luxembourg. The Kaiserslautern Military Community, a combined branch (Navy-Army-Air Force) community, is the largest overseas US military community, with some 58,800 Military Members, Dependents and DOD Civilians. Sembach is located in rolling farm country ten miles north of Kaiserslautern, just off the Mannheim/Saarbruecken Autobahn. Also nearby are the vineyards of the Rhine Valley. The State of Rheinland Palatinate stretches from the Rhein River to the north, the Mosel to the northwest, and the Saar to the west. Sembach is centrally located; shopping, entertainment, and recreation are readily available in nearby Kaiserslautern. Frankfurt International Airport is about a 50- minute drive away.

Located in DoDEA Europe and DoDEA Pacific facilities candidate is familiar with the infrastructure equipment and devices used in the respective DoDEA environments and possess the technical skills, certifications and security certifications.
Expert knowledge of:
- OSI and TCP/IP models
- Deploy, optimize and maintain Wide Area Networks. (IPv4, IPv6, IPSEC, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, TCP, UDP, etc.)
- Deploy, optimize and maintain Local Area Networks.
- Layer 1 infrastructure installation and troubleshooting techniques to include end-user devices on the switch port, SMF, MMF, CAT-6, patch panels, cabling infrastructure, media converters, SFP's, GBIC's, etc).
- Configure, deploy, optimize, and maintain: switches, routers, firewalls, VPN and other network appliances; solutions for network device authentication, authorization and accounting; wireless infrastructure controllers, access points and power injectors / power over Ethernet (POE) infrastructure.
- Configure, deploy, optimize, and maintain network segregation, filtering and security on network equipment as business requirements dictate.
- Configure, deploy, optimize and maintain; network failover solutions; network device management solutions; network monitoring solutions.
- Provide response and support through an automated help desk system, responding to service tickets submitted to an assigned queue.
- Provide network status reports to management on a weekly basis.
- Document, manage and maintain public and private IP address space.
- Utilize DoDEA monitoring tools to provide status of networks
- Document inter-connectivity network topology diagram/infrastructure with external agencies.
- Ensure network connectivity is established and maintained to external agencies needed for enterprise business operations.
- Provide network connectivity and troubleshooting assistance in the process of implementing and maintaining enterprise application functionality.
- Coordinate with internal and external customers in the implementation, maintenance and resolution of network connectivity issues.
- Coordinate with circuit providers (ISP, etc) to ensure reliable connectivity and quick resolution to network outages and provider maintenance windows.
- Must have a Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Must have a minimum of 5+ years' experience working as network administration
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher
- Brocade Certified Network Engineer (BCNE)
- 8570 IAT Level II (Security + ce) Certified
- Secret Security Clearance
