Investment Controller (m/f/d)*
Reinsurance Controlling (RIC) consolidates all controlling activities and related reporting for the reinsurance segment. Its role is to act as a trusted and impartial advisor to management, providing transparent and insightful business analysis.
The Global IT Controlling (RIC1.2) department is responsible for planning and monitoring (budget and mid-term planning), as well as accounting and allocating the reinsurance group's global IT RUN and Transform expenses (both internal and external). The department works closely with the IT Finance functions at ERGO and Group Technology to support the group-wide IT organization and ensure a consistent global view of IT expenses. In addition, it is responsible for planning and monitoring the reinsurance group's investments, including the IT Transform and project portfolio.
Within RIC1.2, the section RIC1.2.3 is responsible for assessing and monitoring all investments and business cases within the scope of the investment guidelines of the reinsurance segment (excluding those managed by GIM/MEAG). The team establishes a consistent return-on-investment perspective, including related processes and governance structures.
In this role, you will contribute to decision-making processes at senior executive level across the reinsurance segment and strengthen RIC's position as a strategic business partner.
Your Job
- Analyse and assess business cases and investments (IT and beyond) from various economic perspectives (e.g. IFRS, VBM, cash flow, management and legal perspectives, financial funding)
- Prepare controlling recommendations for the Reinsurance Committee in close collaboration with finance functions, the Reinsurance CFO and IT, addressing economic, risk and accounting aspects
- Drive financial planning and monitoring processes for the IT Transform budget (ITIB) in close collaboration with other RIC teams
- Establish and continuously enhance approaches to evaluate and monitor business cases and investments
- Develop, prepare and present decision proposals and senior management presentations, including communication to very senior stakeholders
- Translate complex financial and technical topics into clear, structured insights for non-technical audiences
- Develop analyses and visualisations to support data-driven decision-making
- Contribute to the automation and digitalisation of systems, tools, interfaces and processes to increase efficiency
Your Profile
- University degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance or a comparable field
- Several years of experience in finance and/or controlling
- Strong knowledge of methodologies and metrics in investment and project controlling
- Excellent analytical and conceptual skills
- Strong interest in data, with knowledge of analytical programming (e.g. SQL, R, Python) and visualisation/BI tools (e.g. Power BI) is an advantage
- Experience in IT project management is an advantage
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to engage with senior stakeholders in a clear and structured manner
- Ability to explain complex topics in an understandable way to diverse audiences
