Job Summary
The Trade Compliance Specialist supports the organization’s global trade operations by ensuring the accuracy and compliance of end-to-end documentation. This role will own customs and trade compliance, supervise customs administration, reporting, maintain licenses/authorizations and serve as the key contact for customs, relevant authorities and internal stakeholders. The position plays a critical role in minimizing compliance risk and ensuring smooth import/export processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure end-to-end documentation is prepared and delivered on time
- Manage certificates and regulated documentation
- Own customs and trade compliance
- Supervise customs request for information
- Play a central role in strengthening and standardizing trade compliance processes, while leading regional implementation and adoption of Trade Compliance processes and policies
- Establish regional practices for import/export compliance, tariff classification, country of origin determination and export control classification
- Identify opportunities to leverage preferential trade programs and duty mitigation strategies
- Supporting in audits, regulatory inquiries
- Monitor developments in global regulations
- Translate applicable regulations into clear and concrete guidelines
- Create, review, audit, and correct commercial invoices to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable import/export regulations
- Coordinate with Importers of Record (IORs), customs brokers, carriers, and other third-party partners to resolve discrepancies and ensure shipment compliance
- Identify and escalate compliance issues, delays, or inconsistencies in documentation or processes
- Follow established internal procedures, controls, and compliance guidelines
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment of trade compliance requirements and data accuracy
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Business, Logistics, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in trade compliance, logistics, import/export operations, or a related function
- Experience reviewing or creating shipping documentation
- Extensive knowledge of customs regulations, import/export requirements, and global trade processes
- Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, or couriers
Skills and Competencies
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in document review and data validation
- Working knowledge of international trade compliance principles and documentation requirements
- Ability to interpret and apply trade regulations and internal compliance policies
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement
- Strong problemsolving and criticalthinking skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and experience working in ERP or trade management systems
- Ability to follow structured processes while also identifying opportunities for improvement
- High degree of accountability and ability to work independently within defined guidelines
- Exemplary multitasking and organizational skills.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and maintain both a proactive and positive attitude
- Full fluency in English
