What You'll Do

We are seeking an exceptional scientist and research leader to join the AI Science Institute as Head of Research. This is a rare opportunity to shape the research vision and agenda of one of the most ambitious AI researchprogramsin industry at the intersection of frontier science, engineering at scale, and global client impact.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Build and lead a multidisciplinary research team of ambassadors and post-doc fellows fostering a high-performance and publication-driven culture
• Define and drive the institute's research vision and agenda, aligning frontier AI science with BCG X's strategic priorities and client impact
• Lead cutting-edge research in areas such as foundation models, agentic systems, physical and applied AI, translating breakthroughs into scalable solutions
• Establish the institute as a global thought leader through top-tier publications, conference presence, and partnerships with academia and industry
• Oversee the end-to-end research lifecycle, from ideation and prototyping to production in collaboration with engineering and client teams
• Bridge research and commercial impact, ensuring outputs translate into client value and deployable solutions
• Advise clients on emerging AI trends and translate technical advances into business implications
• Co-Lead portfolio management, prioritizing high-impact research bets and measuring ROI
• Engage with MDPs, and account CCOs to createprioritytopics and generate demand signal for AISI

What You'll Bring

• 15+ years of practical experience in top-tier companies or consulting firms. Prior or current consulting experience is required.
• Strong executive presence and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to drive alignment across distributed teams and business units
• Experience of leading large, multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to translate complex technical topics into practical frameworks
• Excellent problem-solving and structured thinking
• Change management skills and ability to manage ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and influencing skills with executive level audiences
• Leading large, complex transformation programs with multiple workstreams and a diverse stakeholder group
• GenAI tool fluency (e.g.,demonstrateduse of GenAI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude) and validation of responses.

• Global MDPs, Chief Client Officers, AI product managers, engineers, and data scientists
• Senior leadership across BCG, BCG X, and the broader firm
• External clients, partners, and stakeholders
