Project / Department Overview

The role supports technology-driven transformation projects in a complex IT environment. The focus is on change management, communication, stakeholder enablement, and the successful introduction of new IT systems.

The Senior Consultant will advise and support transformation initiatives by designing and implementing change management strategies, communication measures, workshops, and stakeholder engagement activities. The position requires close collaboration with internal project teams, customer stakeholders, external service providers, and management bodies.

Responsibilities

The Senior Consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Represent and support the change management lead in complex transformation projects.
  • Manage stakeholders across different organizational levels with sensitivity, clarity, and a direct communication style.
  • Coordinate and steer external service providers supporting change management activities.
  • Perform both conceptual work and operational routine tasks as required.
  • Take ownership of complex and diverse change management topics within specific project modules.
  • Develop and shape the professional change management approach for assigned subprojects or modules.
  • Prepare, conduct, and follow up on customer workshops and stakeholder presentations.
  • Moderate workshops, project meetings, and decision-making sessions.
  • Prepare specialist topics for management meetings, steering committees, and status meetings.
  • Translate complex transformation topics into clear and understandable communication formats.
  • Gain a working understanding of technical project components in order to support change initiatives effectively.
  • Organize and manage internal communication on project milestones, progress, and achievements.
  • Support the introduction of new IT systems through structured change and communication measures.
  • Work hands-on with project teams in an interdisciplinary transformation environment.

Required Qualifications
  • Completed degree in social sciences, humanities, business administration, economics, or a comparable field.
  • Alternatively, completed commercial vocational training combined with extensive professional experience in IT change management.
  • Proven training or certification in agile frameworks.
  • Prosci ADKAR certification is required.
  • Strong understanding of change management methods in IT or digital transformation projects.

Required Professional Experience

The candidate should have:
  • At least 4 years of professional experience as a consultant or change manager with a focus on change management in complex IT projects or digital transformation.
  • At least 1 year of experience using Confluence as an information and collaboration platform.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in the public sector; experience in defence-related or military environments is an advantage.
  • At least 4 years of experience designing and implementing change management strategies for large projects or programs.
  • At least 4 years of experience steering change management activities across multiple subprojects.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, communication planning, workshop moderation, and management reporting.
  • Experience preparing decision papers, status updates, and presentations for senior stakeholders.

Language Requirements
  • German: C1 level according to CEFR.
  • English: B1 level according to CEFR.

German language proof is required if German is not the candidate's native language. English can be assessed during the interview. English is necessary for technical project-related topics.

Project Reference Requirements

If project references are required, they should include:
  • Industry
  • Project title
  • Short project description
  • Duration of the candidate's assignment
  • Detailed description of the candidate's responsibilities and activities in the project

Special Requirements

Additional Information

The role requires willingness to travel approximately 1-2 times per month on average. Travel may be carried out by private car, rental car, train, or other public transport, depending on applicable travel policies.

The expected mobile work share is approximately 40%on average.
