Systems Engineer Exploration, Space Safety and Space Transportation (m/f/d)
In this role, you will be responsible for the holistic systems engineering of complex space missions, from early concept phases through to verification. You will analyze customer, mission and system requirements and translate them into structured specifications, including the development of functional architectures and identification of required adaptations.
A key part of your work will involve the derivation and management of requirements down to subsystem and equipment level using DOORS, as well as supporting trade-offs and shaping the overall mission and system architecture. You will actively contribute to the design and development of space systems, covering everything from mission analysis to subsystem specifications.
You will coordinate technical activities across subsystems and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment in case of requirement changes and assessing their impact. In addition, you will act as a key interface to subcontractors (on behalf of the Project Chief Engineer or Project Manager) as well as to external partners, including industry and ESA.
Your responsibilities also include supporting system design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR), verification planning and the monitoring of requirement compliance. You will contribute to defining verification strategies, preparing test specifications and evaluating test results. Furthermore, you will support the implementation of design changes (e.g. RFWs, RFDs, NCRs) and contribute to the preparation of proposals for future exploration missions.
