The impact you will make

As an Electrical/Mechatronics Engineer Intern, your contributions will be crucial to develop critical components for MF experimental campaigns. In addition, you will help to maintain proper documentation. Together with mechanical engineers and scientists, you will help in the design of motion control and monitoring test setups.

Your responsibilities

  • Assembly and testing PCB for motion control and cameras.
  • Build and set up test benches for signal monitoring and testing
  • Take part in project meetings to stay up to date with the latest developments
  • Support the science team during preparation, testing, and debugging of electronics
  • Assemble and wire electrical prototypes following design schematics
  • Document best practices to ensure high-quality builds and safe working standards
  • Hands-on experience with PCB and soldering skills, cable management
  • Write Electrical Testing protocols and reports, creating wiring and system diagrams/schematics

What you bring

  • Enrolled in or studying Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering
  • Hands-on experience building electronics prototypes
  • Familiarity with electrical design software such as EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar tools
  • Solid understanding of both digital and analog electronics and strong troubleshooting skills
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness drawings
  • Comfortable using and maintaining a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and lab equipment
  • Skilled with wiring tools such as crimpers, wire splicing, soldering, and pin extraction tools
  • Experience with measurement instruments and power distribution hardware (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, transformers, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills and a structured, organized working style
  • Experience with microcontrollers (e.g., ESP32) or other programmable boards (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi)
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
