Enabler for smaller, more powerful and more energy-efficient microchips
Shaping tomorrow, today

Around 80% of all microchips worldwide are manufactured using ZEISS technologies. As the core of every electronically controlled system, microchips have become indispensable in our daily lives - whether in smartphones, smart homes or smart factories. ZEISS is a technology leader in semiconductor manufacturing equipment. With high-precision lithography optics, photomask systems and process control solutions, ZEISS enables the production of ever smaller, more powerful and more energy-efficient microchips and thus plays a key role in shaping the age of micro- and nanoelectronics with its innovations.

In our Technology Optics & Metrology team, you will take responsibility for various manufacturing processes at our Wetzlar site and solve demanding tasks in the fine processing of high-performance optics with professionalism and a diplomatic approach. As a specialist in polishing, you will support diverse teams and use your expertise to continuously improve optical manufacturing processes.

Your Role
  • Re-evaluate and optimize machining and finishing processes for optical components in polishing production and act as the direct contact person for production teams.
  • Serve as the technical and communication interface between development and manufacturing, accompany production processes and provide on-site second-level support.
  • Prepare and maintain process-related documentation, including work instructions and technical requirement specifications.
  • Design your own experimental plans, carry out trials with suitable process parameters and document all results in a structured and reliable manner.
  • Support not only technological changes from a process perspective, but also monitor and track project-related performance indicators.

Your Profile
  • Successfully completed university degree in an engineering or natural science discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in mechanical engineering and manufacturing processes, ideally in the optical industry.
  • Structured and rational way of thinking that enables you to set and maintain clear priorities even in complex or ambiguous situations.
  • Determined and responsible working style combined with high resilience and a strong hands-on mentality.
  • Ability to assert yourself and act as a mediator between different stakeholders, using your strong communication skills to motivate others.
