(Senior) Materials & Processes Engineer (m/w/d)

Your Tasks

  • Your focus will be the engineering consultancy, technical risk mitigation and assurance concerning materials and processes applied in the next generations of Space systems
  • Join an international team responsible for the assessment of material and process suitability regarding their application in the space environment
  • Review and evaluate manufacturing, inspection and test methods and procedures for building and qualifying space equipment and systems
  • You will be part of the technical support teams in case of non-conformances or proposal evaluation
  • You will regularly take part in or conduct technical reviews regarding materials and processes for the building blocks of future, smart space solutions
  • Share extensive expertise in the field of Materials and Processes across the organization

Your Qualifications

  • Phd/Master in Materials science, Production Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical engineering, Physics, Chemistry or a comparable qualification
  • Several years' experience in the area of Materials and Processes Control (MMPP) in Space applications including SMT
    Knowledge of the applicable ECSS-ST-Q-70 standards
  • Solid expertise in Metallurgy and welding technology
  • Experience in soldering, brazing or manufacturing processes are a clear advantage
  • Interdisciplinary mindset, independent and forward-looking way of working
  • Flexibility, a high sense of responsibility, as well as the ability to work in an international team
  • Confident personality and good negotiation skills
  • Willingness to travel on business
  • Fluent English and good ability to communicate in German.
  • Structured, goal-oriented and self-dependent work
  • Team player with excellent communication skills

Optional Skills
  • Experience in Fracture mechanics, Quality Assurance, or Product Assurance in the space industry
  • Expertise in PCB technologies, corrosion or advanced manufacturing, e.g. EDM
  • French language
  • Inspector Certificate for ECSS-Q-ST-70-61
  • Welding engineer (IWE) or comparable
