In this role, you will be at the heart of our voyage performance team, driving performance optimization for our extensive fleet. Your expertise and diplomatic skills will be crucial in aligning the perspectives of various departments, finding the perfect balance between fuel and emissions savings and managing conflicting interests. - Academic background in maritime studies or related field, complemented by maritime industry experience
Seafaring experience as nautical or technical officer - Experience in the field of vessel performance and operational efficiency is of advantage
- Comprehensive understanding of onboard operational procedures, risks, and consequences
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with a confident and diplomatic approach
- Structured, execution focused working style, able to prioritize, drive outcomes and the ability to simplify complex challenges into clear, concise language
- Proven track record as a team player, collaborating effectively with diverse teams
- Passion for sustainability and a commitment to continuous improvement
- Excellent communication skills in English (German a plus) and strong alignment with Hapag-Lloyd's corporate values
- Monitor key performance indicators such as ETA adherence, constant power operations, trim optimization, auxiliary engine and shaft generator utilization, and precise timing of fuel changeovers based on noon reporting and sensor data.
- Engage proactively with vessel crews on deviations from defined thresholds and provide clear, actionable guidance for optimal voyage execution.
- Conduct crew briefings, promote best practices, and track their application on board.
- Assess vessel performance metrics and the impact of implemented measures to quantify bunker savings, demonstrate team effectiveness, and identify further fuel-saving potential.
- Coordinate across departments to align perspectives, solve operational challenges, and foster a shared understanding.
- Support and drive the further development of our voyage performance tools and dashboards, expanding sensor data integration and improving data-driven decision-making.
