TOPTICA Photonics SE is an internationally leading, mid-sized high-tech manufacturer of laser systems for science, biotechnology, and metrology, with more than 600 employees worldwide. High motivation and personal responsibility in the service of our customers shape the corporate philosophy of this privately managed "hidden champion," which is embraced and actively lived by our employees with great commitment. Our customers include renowned industrial companies as well as numerous Nobel Prize winners. For more than 25 years, we have been setting the standard for stability, linewidth, low noise, and optomechanical precision. Our products solve technical challenges that others fail to overcome-often under highly specific customer requirements and with exceptionally high demands on thermal, mechanical, and optical stability. At TOPTICA, highly qualified specialists from various disciplines collaborate as equals. For us, mechanics is not merely a downstream implementer of predefined concepts, but a central component of system architecture and product performance.
Senior Design Engineer, Precision Lasers & Optomechanics
What can you expect in this role ?
You will develop sophisticated optomechanical and precision mechanical concepts and assemblies for high-precision laser systems and scientific instruments with exceptional requirements for stability, linewidth, low noise, and long-term performance. In doing so, you will work on technologically central platforms and core technologies for applications in science, quantum technology, and industry.
Your work ranges from the early concept phase through development, prototyping, and verification to the industrialization of production-ready products with high quality and reliability requirements.Your responsibilities include, in particular:• Development and design of thermally and optomechanically highly stable precision systems and assemblies
• Design of mechanical architectures for complex laser and optical systems
• Technical responsibility for mechanical subprojects across all development phases
• Analysis and optimization of thermomechanical stability in the µrad/µm range
• Development of robust and scalable solutions for alignment, assembly, and mass production
• Design of assemblies with regard to stability, manufacturability, cost, and reliability
• Selection of suitable materials, surface finishes, joining technologies, and manufacturing strategies
• Collaboration on the execution and evaluation of FEM simulations and experimental verifications
• Technical exchange with physicists, optics developers, electronics engineers, and production staff starting as early as the concept phase
You will also take on a technical role as a technical consultant within the design department and interdisciplinary project teams.
