OBJECTIVE OF THIS ROLE

As a Logistics Specialist within the Technical Operations River (TOR), you will support Maintenance & Repair Operations for Viking's fleet of 80+ river ships. Reporting to the Senior Manager Logistic, you will collaborate with technical department leadership, purchasing, logistics teams and key stakeholders to ensure timely availability of spare parts and technical materials. You coordinate the logistical processes between warehouse locations, suppliers, and ships - taking into account schedules, availability, and (inter)national regulations. Your work significantly contributes to operational safety and service quality on board. The role requires a high level of organization, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as a deep understanding of logistical processes and systems. This position is based in Cologne and includes occasional business travel to suppliers, and operational hubs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Fleet Supply: Timely delivery of ships with spare parts and consumables
  • Transport Coordination: Organization of deliveries to changing docking points
  • Inventory Management: Manage and track central and decentralized stock
  • Supplier Management: Communication with international suppliers and freight forwarders
  • Data Maintenance: Maintenance of logistics data in ERP systems
  • Emergency Logistics: Arrange urgent deliveries during technical failures
  • Cost Control: Monitoring of delivery costs and adherence to deadlines
  • Claims Handling: Processing of and monitor transport damages and delivery discrepancies
  • Process Optimization: Drive improvements in the supply chain
  • Compliance & Sustainability: Ensure adherence to legal and internal Viking standards
  • Shipping & Customs: Prepare and verify shipping and customs documents
  • Reporting: Prepare and validate KPIs and logistics reports

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Completed vocational training or degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a comparable field
  • 2 years of professional experience in (inter)national logistics, ideally in maritime environment
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Knowledge of customs clearance and international shipping processes is desirable
  • Good German and English skills, both written and spoken
