Description & Requirements

Bloomberg's External Relations team provides strategic insight and engagement on regulatory and public-policy developments that affect Bloomberg and its clients globally. The team combines regulatory expertise, market knowledge, and policy analysis, working closely with colleagues across Legal & Compliance, Communications, Corporate Philanthropy, and Bloomberg's business and product teams to support the firm's strategic priorities.

Bloomberg's European Regulatory Strategy team is responsible for the firm's engagement with policymakers, regulators, supervisors, and industry stakeholders across Europe. With team members based in Brussels, Paris and London, we work closely together to shape Bloomberg's approach to the regulatory and policy issues affecting European financial markets, market data, financial technology, and the broader market infrastructure ecosystem.

Based in Frankfurt, this role sits at the heart of a key global financial centre while working as part of Bloomberg's broader European Regulatory Strategy team. The successful candidate will engage with stakeholders across the European regulatory landscape, including EU and German regulatory institutions such as ESMA, EBA, EIOPA, AMLA, the ECB, BaFin, the Bundesbank, and industry associations. The role will also support Bloomberg's regulatory engagement across Austria and Switzerland, working with relevant regulators, central banks, financial-market participants, and industry bodies on issues affecting Bloomberg and its clients across the DACH region.

The Opportunity

Bloomberg is seeking a Senior European Regulatory Affairs Manager with 10+ years of experience in European and German financial-services regulation, capital markets policy, and regulatory engagement. Based in Frankfurt and working closely with colleagues in Brussels, Paris and London, this role is a key part of Bloomberg's European Regulatory Strategy team and will lead engagement across a broad range of financial-markets, market-data, and regulatory priorities affecting Bloomberg and its clients across Europe, with particular responsibility for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

As a senior member of the European Regulatory Strategy team, you will play a leading role in shaping and executing Bloomberg's regulatory strategy across Europe. You will advise senior business leaders on regulatory policy developments affecting Bloomberg, its clients, and the functioning of European capital markets, helping to shape Bloomberg's response to regulatory developments and emerging market trends.

The role spans market structure, transparency, market data, trading and post-trade regulation, capital markets and the Savings and Investments Union (SIU), as well as adjacent areas such as reporting regimes, benchmarks, digital finance, sustainable finance disclosures, and the growing intersection between financial regulation and technology, including AI. The successful candidate will combine deep regulatory expertise with a strong understanding of European capital markets and the role of financial data, technology, and market infrastructure in supporting their efficient functioning.

What You'll Do

  • Lead Bloomberg's analysis of and engagement on major European legislative and regulatory initiatives affecting financial markets, market data, transparency, trading venues, market infrastructure, benchmarks, and capital markets, helping assess implications for Bloomberg, its clients, and the broader market ecosystem.
  • Develop trusted working relationships with regulatory, supervisory, and industry stakeholders across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland to support Bloomberg's understanding of emerging regulatory priorities and market developments.
  • Engage regularly with regulators, supervisors, central banks, exchanges, market infrastructures, and industry associations to contribute Bloomberg's expertise on market structure, market data, and financial-markets regulation.
  • Track, analyse, and interpret regulatory and policy developments across Europe and the DACH region, providing forward-looking intelligence and strategic advice that informs Bloomberg's business, product, commercial, and leadership teams.
  • Lead the development of high-quality policy outputs, including consultation responses, position papers, briefings, and thought-leadership materials that clearly articulate Bloomberg's perspectives and expertise.
  • Represent Bloomberg in industry associations, expert groups, conferences, and regulatory forums, ensuring the firm's views are well understood and reflected in policy discussions where appropriate.
  • Champion the thoughtful adoption of AI and advanced analytics within the team, helping to shape how emerging technologies are used to enhance policy analysis, monitoring, engagement strategies, and internal collaboration.
  • Collaborate closely with Communications, Marketing, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Philanthropy, and other internal partners to reinforce Bloomberg's regulatory priorities across Europe.
  • Contribute to Bloomberg's broader regulatory strategy by providing subject-matter expertise and market insight on key policy and regulatory developments.

What You'll Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in European financial-services regulation, financial-markets policy, or regulatory affairs, gained within supervisory authorities, central banks, European institutions, financial institutions, exchanges, market infrastructures, industry associations, or leading advisory environments.
  • Strong expertise in European financial-markets regulation, particularly market structure, transparency, market data, and trading regulation (including MiFID II/MiFIR), with the ability to engage credibly across adjacent policy areas including reporting regimes, benchmarks, digital finance, sustainable finance, and AI-related regulation.
  • Deep understanding of European policymaking, supervisory frameworks, and regulatory processes, with proven experience engaging effectively with legislators, regulators, supervisors, and senior policymakers.
  • Demonstrated ability to shape policy outcomes through regulatory expertise, strategic analysis, and stakeholder engagement, supported by an established network across European regulatory and financial-markets communities.
  • Strong understanding of European capital markets, market infrastructure, and the role of financial data and technology in supporting efficient and transparent markets.
  • Demonstrated expertise in analysing complex regulatory developments and translating them into practical implications for business strategy, products, and clients.
  • Experience advising senior executives and translating complex regulatory developments into clear, commercially relevant strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to distil complex regulatory issues into clear, persuasive policy positions.
  • Strong interpersonal and project-management skills, and the confidence to operate effectively in a matrixed, international, and fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across multiple jurisdictions and stakeholder groups, collaborating with colleagues and senior leaders across Europe.
