Amazon Robotics is seeking a motivated Test Engineer. You will plan, design, execute, and document testing of electrical-drive systems and their components - from individual actuator characterization through system-level validation. This includes the design and operation of test benches, instrumentation selection, data processing, and reporting. You will be accountable for turning raw measurement data into clear engineering insights that drive design decisions for our actuation hardware.
You will work with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and systems engineers within the Actuation Group. The ideal candidate brings hands-on test bench experience for drive systems, strong measurement and data-processing fundamentals, and a passion for translating test results into actionable design guidance.
Key job responsibilities
Design, commission, and operate test benches for electrical-drive systems (motors, inverters, gear units), including fixture design, instrumentation layout, and safety concepts.
Select, integrate, and calibrate torque cells and encoders (incremental and absolute), with a thorough understanding of their working principles and error influences (e.g., cross-talk, temperature drift, mounting misalignment, interpolation error).
Process and analyze test data using MATLAB, applying the underlying mathematical fundamentals (filtering, FFT, statistics, uncertainty propagation) to extract meaningful performance metrics from raw sensor signals.
Compile clear, structured test reports that compare results against specifications, highlight anomalies, and derive actionable engineering learnings to feed back into the design cycle.
Collaborate with the Actuation Group to align test strategies with product requirements and development milestones.
