PhD Candidate Bioinformatics, Data Science or Related Areas (m/f/d)

This PhD project is embedded in BMFTR-funded project "Systems Medicine in Psychiatry - Advancing Treatment Response through Mulit-Omics Approaches and Multi-Modal Biomarkers". The project aims to improve treatment algorithms, particularly for depression, through multimodal predictors, including clinical variables and multi-omics data (e.g. DNA methylation, gene expression, protein expression).

Your Tasks:
  • quality control and preprocessing of genetic, epigenetic, and transcriptomic data
  • statistical analysis and integration of multi-omics datasets
  • Implementation, optimization, and application of novel methods
  • analysis, interpretation, presentation, and publication of research data
  • Participation in administrative tasks within the group


Your Profile:
  • a strong interest in translational, data-focused research in psychiatry and the goal to pursue a career in academia
  • completed Master's degree (or equivalent qualification) in Bioinformatics, Data Science, Molecular Medicine, Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related discipline
  • experience in programming, preferably R
  • excellent organizational and communication skills
  • proficiency in written and spoken English


The position is limited to 5 years. After completion of the PhD, the position can be held for an early postdoctoral phase, until the 5 year limit.
