Researcher - Optical System Design (m/f/d)

Your mission

  • Perform research and innovative work in smart display, projection, imaging, and laser optics systems, including architecture, subsystem, or application, especially focusing on systems integrating liquid crystals or diffractive optical elements.
  • Go from the analysis of application requirements, through solution design and system simulation, up to proof of concept and prototyping, identify key challenges and lead the technical breakthrough efforts.
  • Deeply understand the business context, track and analyze latest advancements, write insightful reports, provide value judgments and identify high-value technical leads aligned with business needs, and conduct targeted research.
  • Extensive interaction and close collaboration with co-workers in the team, cross-departmental or even cross-regional colleagues, and proactively leverage top-tier industry resources to achieve business goals.
  • Attend academic conferences and exhibitions to build technical connections, match top resources to business needs, and engage in collaborations. Publish and present results at authoritative venues and file patents to protect core assets.
  • Maintain and standardize use of experimental equipment, optical components, and precision instruments; set up experimental systems and R&D environments; share technical knowledge; and contribute to team capability development.

Your areas of expertise

  • Master's or doctoral degree in optical engineering, physical optics, photonics, optoelectronics, or related fields, with solid knowledge of geometric and wave optics, diffraction, interference, laser physics, and micro-nano optics. Ph.D. preferred.
  • Experience in designing and developing display, projector, imaging, or laser optical systems, with a record of product implementation, published papers, or patents. "Birdbath" or "pancake" display system experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in optical design and simulation software. Programming skills for numerical calculations and data analysis preferred.
  • Ability for independently experiment or prototype developing, with proficiency in operating optical instruments including lasers, spectrometers, beam analyzers, oscilloscopes, and high-speed imaging detectors.
  • Experience in liquid crystal device or micro-nano diffractive optical elements application, or AI integrated optical systems preferred.
  • Rigorous scientific thinking with the ability to identify, analyze, decompose, and solve problems. Capable of balancing fundamental innovation with engineering feasibility through a systematic, goal-oriented approach.
  • Strong English reading and writing skills for technical literature and documentation. Excellent written and oral communication skills for effective collaboration in cross-cultural teams.
  • Precision, attention to detail, strong adaptability, and innovative thinking. Commitment to staying updated on cutting-edge optical technologies and willingness to undertake complex, challenging projects.
