Subject Matter Expert - Diagnostics - ORU/OTA (M/F/D)

Job/Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) with strong expertise in ORU/OTA and extensive experience working on VW automotive programs. The candidate will collaborate with global engineering teams and VW stakeholders to drive connected vehicle feature development, requirement analysis, and system integration.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a domain expert for ORU / OTA functionalities in VW automotive programs.
• Lead requirement analysis, technical documentation, and feature clarification for update-related systems.
• Ensure alignment with VW processes, tools, and methodologies across all development phases.
• Participate in technical discussions with VW engineering teams and support end-to-end delivery.
• Provide technical guidance to internal development teams on VW-specific expectations and standards.
• Coordinate between India-Germany teams and support discussions with German-speaking stakeholders.
• Review technical artifacts, evaluate feature readiness, and support defect triage activities.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent with at least 10-12 years of experience in the automotive domain
• Experience in leading technical teams or acting as a domain anchor within VW programs.
• Strong background working on VW projects.
• Deep knowledge of ORU / OTA (Online/Remote Updates).
• Understanding of ECU update flows including SOTA/FOTA strategies.

Technical Skills

• Mandatory: experience in vehicle Diagnostics domain and Hands on experience on ODX or any similar Diagnostics standards.
• Experience with ECU flashing and software update mechanisms.
• Experience with VW tools such as ODIS, KPM, DPP, Vector tools (CANoe / CANalyzer).
• Strong knowledge of diagnostic protocols (UDS, DoIP, CAN, Ethernet).
• Understanding of connected vehicle architecture and backend update services.
• Work closely in association with aftermarket product team to determine
• requirements of diagnostic content for multi brand vehicle diagnostics tool and remote vehicle diagnostics.
• UDS and other automotive standards

Soft Skills

• German-speaking proficiency (B2/C1 level).
• Strong communication, requirement clarification, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to lead discussions, provide SME-level support, and mentor team members. within VW programs.
