The Microsurgery (MCS) Strategic Business Unit at Carl Zeiss Meditec AG is seeking a Senior Manager Business Development (f/m/x). The role focuses on shaping and advancing external growth opportunities for MCS, with emphasis on strategic partnerships, investments, and M&A in close collaboration with senior stakeholders.

Your Role
  • Co-develop and drive the external innovation and growth strategy for MCS in alignment with strategic priorities
  • Identify, assess, and prioritize external growth opportunities across partnerships, investments, and M&A
  • Own selected opportunities end-to-end, from screening and business case development to recommendation and execution support
  • Build and manage a structured pipeline of external opportunities with clear strategic and business impact focus
  • Lead cross-functional workstreams across key functions to advance high-priority strategic initiatives
  • Prepare decision materials for senior management and support executive and board-level discussions on selected growth topics


Your Profile
  • University degree in Management, Business Administration, Medicine, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or PhD is a plus
  • Several years of experience in business development, corporate strategy, investment, or a related strategic role, ideally with exposure to partnerships, venture capital, or M&A
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills with experience in market analysis, company evaluation, and business case development
  • Proven ability to lead complex strategic initiatives independently and align stakeholders across functions without formal authority
  • Strong understanding of medical technology markets, applications, and value chains is an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills with executive-level presence; fluent in English, German is a plus
