At the University of Greifswald's Institute of Psychology, Chair of Health and Prevention, within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, subject to budgetary regulations and the allocation of funds, to start as soon as possible, on a fixed-term contract until 31 December 2028, a position is available as a full-time

Research Assistant

in the field of health, prevention and healthcare research. Payment will be in accordance with pay group 13 of the TV-L Wissenschaft . The post is suitable for part-time work. There is the possibility of continued employment.

Research at the Chair of Health and Prevention aims primarily to strengthen the Greifswald/Rostock site's areas of focus within the German Centre for Child and Adolescent Health (www.dzkj.org), which lie in particular in the fields of community health research and psychosocial and mental health. The focus here is on children and adolescents with chronic conditions in their living environments, and in future also on the development of prevention and intervention strategies in this field. The topics range from issues relating to the care needs of children and adolescents with acute or chronic conditions, through access to care, to the collection of Patient-Reported Outcomes (PROMs) and Patient-Reported Experiences (PREMs); in this context, family factors and the influence of living environments and settings are to be given special consideration. Applicants' own research should therefore demonstrate a clear connection to at least one of these thematic areas.

The project-related portion of the job advertisement involves participating in a large externally funded project focused on the care of children and adolescents with Long COVID and similar conditions (PEDNET-LC). The PEDNET-LC project (https://pednet-lc.de/) is a nationwide consortium of 65 hospitals and research institutes focused on improving diagnostic methods and treatment approaches for children and adolescents with Long COVID-like conditions, with the goal of ensuring comprehensive and effective care for those affected.

As part of the PEDNET project, research questions relating to healthcare research will be systematically examined across various settings, including a registry-based evaluation study and studies conducted in the context of primary and home care. This will involve conducting systematic literature reviews and secondary data analyses, as well as carrying out practice-based studies within the PEDNET consortium and in primary care settings. A working group has been established at the University of Greifswald in cooperation with the Medical Faculty of the University of Rostock. The research is also anchored in several national working groups.

The position is funded half by third-party grants and half by the university budget. As part of the budget-funded portion of the position, in addition to research, the candidate is expected to teach courses in the areas of prevention and rehabilitation, as well as psychotherapeutic care, within the chair's research groups.

This job posting is intended for applicants who have already completed their doctorate or are in the final stages of completing it. Further qualification, such as through a habilitation, is possible.

Job description:

• Conducting studies: Designing and conducting studies involving children with chronic illnesses (e.g., with a focus on communities or living environments)
• Data analysis: Guidance on quantitative data analysis and processing as part of a team
• Coordination and collaboration: Effective collaboration and coordination within research consortia; ideally, candidates should have some prior leadership experience
• Publication and dissemination of project findings in academic and public media
• Conducting systematic reviews or secondary data analyses
• This position is intended to support professional development during the second phase of qualification. Tasks will be assigned that are conducive to preparing for a habilitation or a comparable qualification
• Teaching: Participation in the Bachelor's program (practical fields of prevention and rehabilitation) or in the clinical Master's program (quality assurance and work in care teams)

Job requirements:

• A doctoral degree in psychology, health sciences, public health, medicine, or sociology that is (largely) completed at the time of hire
• Research experience in health and healthcare research or prevention research, or in target-group-oriented research that allows for connections to the PEDNET-LC project
• Publications in social science research in the field of child and adolescent health or health and healthcare research
• Strong methodological expertise in health and healthcare research
• Experience in planning, collecting, or analysing quantitative data
• Excellent written and spoken German and English
• Commitment and initiative in both research and teaching
• Reliability, conscientiousness, flexibility, and excellent communication and coordination skills

Further requirements which may have an impact of the decision-making process:

• Interest in further academic qualification
• Interest in advancing healthcare research in the context of child and adolescent health at the DZKJ's location
• Specific methodological knowledge (e.g., experience in analysing secondary data and in-depth longitudinal data using innovative models)
