- Research and development of ultracompact particle accelerators for cancer therapies of the future
- Conduct independent scientific research in the field of laser-plasma particle acceleration, including planning and execution of experiments as well as interpretation of experimental results
- Design, construction, and operation of scientific setups
- Evaluation and documentation of research results
- Participation in the science program of the research group
- Preparation and presentation of scientific results at conferences and in peer-reviewed journals
- Contribute to laser-plasma simulations
Your Profile
- Ph.D. in physics or a related field (e.g., optics, electrical engineering), ideally with a focus on laser physics, plasma physics, or accelerator physics
- In-depth knowledge of laser-plasma interactions, accelerator physics, and electron beam optics
- Experience in experimental research and development (R&D) in the field of laser-plasma particle acceleration
- Proven scientific achievements demonstrated by outstanding publications in the field, presentations at (international) conferences, and invited talks
- Several years of experience working with multi-terawatt laser systems
- Experience in the design, construction, and operation of optical setups for terawatt laser experiments
- Proficient knowledge of data analysis and scientific evaluation (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or similar)
- Ability to work independently and in a structured manner, while contributing effectively to interdisciplinary teams
- Fluency in English, with excellent written and verbal communidation and presentation skills
