Student Assistant / HiWi or Thesis (m/f/d) - Deep Learning for AI-powered Cell Therapy Design
03.08.2026, Student assistants, internships, student research projects
Help develop AI models to design T cell receptors (TCRs) combating cancer and infectious diseases. My new group focuses on building foundation models that enable predictive and generative design of TCRs for next-generation T cell therapies.
I am looking for motivated students to join as research assistants (HiWis) or to conduct their thesis. You will work with a unique dataset of more than 30 million TCR sequences for foundation model pretraining, representation learning, generative modeling, or downstream prediction tasks.
Your profile:
Strong motivation to tackle challenging research problems in AI and computational biology
Collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced development environment
Solid understanding of modern deep learning methods and neural network architectures
Strong Python programming skills and hands-on experience with at least one major deep learning framework (e.g., PyTorch or TensorFlow)
Experience with research software development (e.g,. Git, Linux, SSH, SLURM, Docker) is a plus
My offer
Opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge development at the intersection of AI and immunotherapy
Integration into the research environment of the Computational Health Center at Helmholtz Munich
Dedicated scientific mentorship and close collaboration within a motivated team
Flexible working hours (starting at 10 hours per week)
Please send your CV, transcript of records, and a five-sentence description of the most technically challenging project you have worked on to [email protected]
