For our Catalysts Business Unit, we are seeking a dedicated individual to serve as an R&D Scientist - Oxidation (m/f/d) who will drive the development of coated and bulk mixed-metal catalysts for partial oxidation reactions. This position is based at the Clariant Heufeld R&D Center.

This position combines scientific expertise with team development and operates at the intersection of catalyst synthesis, characterization, testing, kinetic modeling, and data science. The position reports to the R&D Head of Oxidation in Heufeld with a global reach and impact on projects worldwide.


Responsibilities

  • Developing recipes for coated and bulk mixed-metal catalysts for partial oxidation reactions - scalable to production scale by using different synthesis approaches and strategies
  • Operating catalyst test units by designing and executing performance measurements, and by developing appropriate evaluation models for reactor and kinetics (e.g. with gProms) used in partial oxidation processes
  • Ensuring the quality and integrity of data, reports, and technical documentation across the R&D project
  • Driving continuous improvements of oxidation catalyst development by proposing advanced R&D equipment and advancing data driven methodologies, such as data mining, statistics, machine learning
  • Leading a team of technicians/ lab assistants with direct personnel responsibility and continuously developing technical skills and work methods
  • Maintaining continuous exchange and close cooperation with colleagues and project team members within R&D and stakeholders from business and production
