Position: Electronics Developer

Location: Wedel, Germany

Type: Full-time

Tasks:

  • Responsible for drawing up specifications for highly complex electronic assemblies and test specifications
  • Responsible for the cross-assembly assessment of cooling, shock and vibration resistance, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and design for manufacturability for electronic assemblies
  • Technical leadership of development teams for the development of circuit diagrams and the commissioning of assemblies
  • Supervising and carrying out PCB routing
  • Monitoring the maintenance of documentation supporting the development process (specification templates, design rules, manufacturing specifications)
  • Responsible for making critical design decisions

Requirements:
  • A completed Master's degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering / Electronics or equivalent
  • Several years' professional experience in electronics development within an industrial setting
  • Several years' experience in creating circuit diagrams and layouts for complex printed circuit boards
  • In-depth knowledge of the relevant development tools, e.g. Mentor Graphics or Spice
  • Very good knowledge of SAP
  • Several years' practical experience in the commissioning of electronic assemblies
  • Very good command of English and German

Must-haves
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Basic knowledge:
    • Analog Electronics:
      • Basic circuits using discrete components
      • Amplifier circuits using integrated components, especially operational amplifiers and their fundamental circuit configurations
      • Good understanding of photosensors such as photodiodes, avalanche photodiodes (APDs), and integrated image sensors (CMOS, CCD)
      • Good understanding of the physical principles of photosensors
      • Circuit design using photodiodes and APDs
    • Digital Electronics:
      • Basic digital circuits such as logic gates, flip-flops, etc.
      • Microcontrollers and their integration into electronic circuits
    • Development Tools:
      • Basic knowledge of PCB layout

Nice-to-haves
  • Specialization / Master's focus in telecommunications engineering, measurement and control engineering, microelectronics, or optoelectronics
  • Experience: Initial project experience in optoelectronics, preferably involving photodetectors, image sensors, and lasers (fiber-coupled and free-space)
  • Digital Electronics: Basic microcontroller programming skills
  • Advanced knowledge:
    • Optoelectronics:
      • Knowledge of different laser sources such as laser diodes, diode lasers, DFB lasers, and solid-state lasers
      • Application of lasers in data transmission and distance measurement, e.g. LiDAR and laser range finding
      • Knowledge of laser modulation methods such as pulsed lasers, CW lasers, wavelength modulation, heterodyne and homodyne detection, as well as the corresponding receiver technology on the photosensor side
    • EMC:
      • Understanding of EMC-related challenges
      • Measures and tools for preventing EMC problems
      • Knowledge of common measurement methods for investigating electromagnetic emissions and immunity
    • RF Engineering:
      • Amplifiers for very fast signals in the nanosecond range, e.g. laser pulses
      • Knowledge of radio transmitters and receivers
      • Transmission lines and their key parameters
      • Antennas and their key parameters
    • Experience with structured development processes, preferably in the defence sector or across other industries, e.g. Automotive SPICE, CMMI, DO-178
    • Basic knowledge of Requirements Engineering

Tools
  • Development Tools:
    • Schematic design using common industry-standard tools
    • Siemens Expedition
    • Altium Designer
    • Simulation and calculation tools such as SPICE, including LTspice and PSpice
    • Scripting/programming languages such as Python or MATLAB
